Navy Chief Anchor, Carved and Named

A fouled anchor carved in relief, chain wrapping the shank and looping round the crown, USN across the stock, and a banner across the flukes with the name, years of service and rate. This is a deep three dimensional carve, not an engraving — the chain links stand proud of the anchor and each one is cut separately, which is most of the machine time. Finished in a warm walnut stain with the recesses left darker so the relief reads from across a room. About 16 inches tall and 12 wide. Hangs from a keyhole slot in the back.
